GENIUS Olympiad Summer Basketball Program 

We will organize a 2-week non-credit GENIUS Olympiad (GO) Summer Basketball program at SUNY Oswego. Students who are not participating in GENIUS Olympiad are also welcome to attend our program. Only students who are 15 or older can participate in our program. The program is designed to be educational both culturally and athletically. A minimum of ten clinics concerning individual and team fundamentals will be presented during the week long session. Drills are a big part of each clinic. We design our program to have a eight player to one coach (8:1) ratio.

PROGRAM DETAILS: The program will include 2 weeks of non-credit Basketball, Strength and conditioning, Team building, and English (16 hrs per week) immersed with cultural activities. Students will receive a certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course. Students will have the opportunity to meet with SUNY Oswego College Student Guide on a daily basis to practice their speaking and to increase their cultural understanding. In addition, the program will include a field trip to Thousand Islands, local activities, and an outlet mall shopping (one day) on the weekends. Certificate of completion will include player report card especially particular strengths and weaknesses, and offer suggestions for individual improvement.

COACHES: The program will include experienced and professional strength & conditioning coach, skills development coach, and award winning NY State Coach of the Year 2011 as the program director. In addition, there will be additional assistants coaches who are professional university basketball players. 

TEACHERS ARE FREE: Teacher will receive 10% discount for every student they bring up to 100% discount to receive free accommodation and food on the SUNY Oswego campus, and free accommodation and transportation for the weekend trips. Teachers will be responsible for monitoring student's behavior and attendance in daily required activities, and will act as a chaperone throughout the program and trips. Teachers are responsible for paying visa fees, personal expenses, sightseeing expenses, and Terra trip (optional as part of GENIUS Olympiad). If there are more than ten students in your group, other expenses of the teacher can be covered based on number of additional students.

PROGRAM COST: The estimated total program cost will be $2,400 per person for the program running from June 18 through July 8, 2016. The GO Sports Program fee includes: $200 non-refundable application fee, tuition, medical insurance ($100 value), camp tshirt and back-bag, certificate of completion, accommodation (with linen, pillow, blanket, towel, and refrigerator) in a residence hall, open buffet meals on campus, transportation between Syracuse airport and campus, and transportation costs for the weekend trips. 

The fee does NOT include airfare, visa application fee ($160, to be paid when during visa application; visit local US embassy website), personal expenses, meals during trips, sightseeing expenses (such as museum entrance fees, boat fees, etc), and optional Terra Washington DC and NY City trip ($600).

The participants will be asked to bring chest X-ray for tuberculosis with a doctor's note in order to avoid further examination when they arrive in Oswego (required by NY State Law). If the participants get sick during the program, they are expected to pay for their doctor's office visit fee. The program will show great care of the participants. 

ACCOMMODATIONS: Students will stay in a campus residence hall. Each room is designed for two students and is furnished with beds, mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, pillowcases, towels, hand towels, washcloths, bureaus, study desks, chairs, floor lamps, closets, and room refrigerators. The residence hall has a game room, coin operated laundry and vending machines. Students will be served their weekday meals in the campus dining hall. Breakfast is served at 8 am, the lunch is served at 11.30 am, and the dinner is served at 5.30 pm. All meals are open buffet with variety options to choose from, including salad bar, dessert bar, sandwich bar, etc. Teacher will be placed in single room.

APPLICATION: You must pay your $200 non-refundable fee and submit your online application by May1st 2016. All GO ESL participants MUST apply for the B2 tourist visa status, therefore plan early to receive your invitation letter and schedule your visa interview. The program is open to all students (also, including students who are not GENIUS participants).  Once you make your payment, please send us an email (This email address is being protected from spambots. In this case, you can add $200 application fee and $2,200 program cost into your basket for payment.

a) Health History and Immunization Form (Fill this form as much as you can, attach the immunization record from doctor's office)

b) Meningitis Fact Sheet and Sing off form (First part is a fact sheet. Fill out and return the signature page only)

c) Insurance and Photo release form

d) Release and Indemnification Form 

e) Authorization for Treatment Form

  June 27 – June 30: Daily program 
  July 1:  Graduation Dinner
  July 2nd: Departure by noon (Drop at Syracuse Airport or Bus/Train station)
